Ye Are Complete In Him

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: | Colossians 2: 10

The believer’s standing in Christ does not fluctuate with his feelings, not even the increase or decrease of his faith or understanding or anything else.

He stands complete in Christ.

God would never trust any of His children to stand before Him at any time in their own selves; that is, in their merits or certain good frames of mind.

He knows our frame.

He remembers that we are yet dust.

Therefore, He has on purpose provided for them this perfect standing in Christ Jesus.

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: (Colossians 2: 1)

“Ye are complete in Him,” the Holy Ghost said.

“Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:” (Colossians 1: 28)

He says in another place, “Ye are perfect in Christ Jesus.”

“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1: 30-31)

The very nature of our God requires us to be perfect and complete before Him at all times.

He, out of necessity, therefore provided all this for His children; a perfection, a completeness, which can never be diminished.

“Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:” (Hebrews 6: 17)

It is as unchanging as God Himself.

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” (Hebrews 13: 8)

Every true believer may walk through this world in perfect liberty, free from anything and everything – yes, even his sin, fear of condemnation, and all else that would cause him to doubt of his completeness.

He may freely come to God, worship Him, call Him “Father,” and this he may do at all times with the utmost confidence and thankfulness, because in Christ he stands, first and foremost and always, complete before God.

O thanks be to God for Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ Himself

“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:” | Colossians 2: 9,10

My friends, how vain and futile are any efforts on our part either to add unto or to improve upon the glorious righteousness of our blessed Lord Jesus.

Then what must I do to be saved?

‘BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!’

Ours is to ‘BELIEVE.’

His is to ‘DO.’

Being Justified Freely

“Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” | Romans 3: 24

What does it mean to be justified?

I am sure that there have been many definitions given and I by no means can fully expound all that is involved in sinners being justified before God.

“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;” (1 Peter 1: 18)

However, I am sure that it means to be eternally pardoned from all sin by the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,” (Jude 24)

It means to be acquitted and vindicated of all charges before the holy justice of God.

“And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:” (Colossians 1: 21-22)

It means to be made and regarded righteous in God’s sight.

How are sinners justified?

“Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.” (Romans 8: 33)

By God as the source, “It is God that justifieth”.

“Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:” (Romans 3: 24)

By grace as the spring and fountain, “Justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”.

“Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” (Romans 5: 9)

By Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and blood atonement as the ground, “Being now justified by his blood we shall be saved from wrath through him” .

“Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.” (Romans 4: 25)

By His resurrection as the proof and evidence, “Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification”.

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” (Romans 5: 1)

By faith as the means to receive this salvation in Christ, “Being justified by faith, we have peace with God”.

“He Hath Done All Things Well”

”And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.” | Mark 7: 37

Who can express fully the blessings of these words: “In Christ?”

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8: 1)

To be “in Christ” means to be chosen “in Him before the foundation of the world.”

“To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.” (Ephesians 1: 6)

To be “in Christ” means that there is now “no condemnation,” accepted “in the Beloved,” and “complete in Him.”

“And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:” (Colossians 2: 10)

It means that “as He is, so are we in this world.”

“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.” (1 John 4: 17)

It means everything to be “in Christ.”

The Only Thing That Matters

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.” | Philippians 3: 10-11

This is the only thing that matters!

After all of these other little things in life are finished — some of them are going to have some kind of affect on us for three-score-and-ten – they do affect us, they are important to us – but winning Christ is the only thing that matters.

Being found in him, knowing a saving union with him, is life eternal and it is all that matters.

It doesn’t matter how great or terrible my day was — if he would just speak to me for just a moment – this is the only thing that matters.

Christ is not a “big part” of a believers life, he is not “number one” – Christ is all!

Knowing him, having him, being found in him is the only thing that matters.

May the Lord cause us to truly see this and live it!

“He Is All Our Righteousness”

“O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.” | Psalm 95: 6

There is a song that we love to sing that says: “We have come into this house, and gathered in His Name to worship Him”!

That is the ONE and ONLY reason we are here!

We have gathered together in this place to Worship, and Honor, and Praise, and Glorify One Man!…

The God-Man!

The High King of heaven!

Our maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend: The Lord Jesus Christ!

He is all our righteousness“!

The only thing that makes us acceptable to God, and worthy to stand in His presence, is the Blood that Christ shed to put away our sin. It is NOT by any works that we have done. All of our works are “filthy rags” in God’s sight! All of our hope is in the fact that He “By Himself purged our sins“! Because of that, “we stand in Him complete“!

So, let’s lift up holy faith, and magnify His Name, and worship Him“!

If the Lord God has given us the gift of faith to see that Christ Is All!

If He has shown us our need for mercy, and given us a heart to cry out to Him for it… Then “Let’s Magnify His Name“!

That faith is the evidence of His work of grace! So even with a thankful and reverent heart, “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.”

Forbearing And Forgiving

”Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.” | Colossians 3: 13

As long as we are in this flesh, we will have misunderstandings, unpleasantnesses, and even injustices (at least we feel that our rights have been compromised and others have been wrong in what they have said or done.)

What is to be our attitude? What are we to do?

It is ours to “forbear and forgive.”

To forbear is to control our emotions, to put down wrath, and even to surrender our rights for the time being in patient hope that the Lord will reveal and accomplish His will and purpose in the matter! It is to “wait on the Lord.”

To forbear is to refrain from doing or saying anything! To forgive is actually to put the problem or misunderstanding out of mind and to restore a state of 1ove and fellowship, “even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye” (Colossians 3: 13)

This is the way our Lord treats us! He forbears!

He is patient, longsuffering, and kind, and He forgives our sins (all of them) and remembers them no more!

“Teach me, Lord, on earth to show. By my love, how much I owe.”

HOW DO I KNOW I AM SAVED?

“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” | Colossians 2: 9-12

We can never determine whether or not someone is saved by what they do or don’t do.

Determining salvation based on the deeds of the law is legalistic.

We know that no one is saved by their obedience to any part of the law.

Judging salvation based on what someone does or does not do is cruel because it puts them under law, not under grace.

The sole determining factor in salvation is faith in Christ.

The question is not whether or not you have sin in your life. Of course you have sin in your life!

The only question is: Do you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ?

Do you trust Christ to be everything it takes to save you, without any help from you?

If your answer to that question is yes, then Christ has saved you and revealed Himself to you and in you.

Rejoicing in The Lord

“Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.” | Philippians 4: 4

Believers in the Lord Jesus do rejoice in the Lord always.

They rejoice that His grace is always sufficient, that His blood ever cleanses them from all sin, that by His righteousness imputed to them they are justified before the law, that His love for them never fails, that by His providence He continually works all things together for their good, to them who are the called according to His purpose, that His intercession before the Father on their behalf is continual and rejoice that their names are written in heaven.

PERFECT IN HIM

“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.” | 1 Corinthians 1: 30-31

There is nothing that will make a NEEDY SINNER look to Christ alone or a BELIEVER cling to, and rest in, Christ alone more than to realize that everything God is, everything that God requires, and everything that a sinner needs or will ever need is IN JESUS CHRIST.

We are perfect in Him! (Colossians 1: 21-22; Jude 1: 24)

He is perfect, and our being in Him makes us perfect. (John 1: 16-17; Colossians 2: 9-10)

This is not speaking of what we shall be, but what we are right now in Christ before God.
