Rejoicing in The Lord

“Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.” | Philippians 4: 4

Believers in the Lord Jesus do rejoice in the Lord always.

They rejoice that His grace is always sufficient, that His blood ever cleanses them from all sin, that by His righteousness imputed to them they are justified before the law, that His love for them never fails, that by His providence He continually works all things together for their good, to them who are the called according to His purpose, that His intercession before the Father on their behalf is continual and rejoice that their names are written in heaven.

A Dog Will Return To His Vomit

The Revelation of Jesus Christ

“And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead” | Revelation 1: 17

John saw Him as the Great High Priest and fell at His feet as dead… and is this not how we, who know Him by faith, fall in our hearts before Him?

Many saw Him in the days of His humiliation but never saw His beauty, honor, or glory. But when John saw Him with the eye of understanding and faith, knowing Him to be the only Mediator before God for men, he knew Him as the only One able to save to the uttermost those that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.

John fell at His feet in submission as one dead to self and in total need of mercy… and may we do so today.

Exhortation to Faith, Patience, and Godliness

Therefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. | Hebrews 12: 1-2

Brethren, as we leave one year behind us and enter in to another year ahead of us, let us (now more than we ever have before) press the necessity and importance of the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Let’s press the necessity and importance of hearing, believing, and gathering together in worship. Let’s press it to ourselves, our children, our parents, our siblings, our friends and our acquaintances. It is truly the one thing that is needful.

With another year gone, it only means that time is running out. Let’s redeem it!

While there is still breath in us, our responsibility in this life on earth is to glorify and praise our Redeemer and King; and to tell all who will listen how great things He has done for us! Our God said that it has pleased Him to use the means of preaching His accomplishment on the cross to call His chosen people from darkness to light. So, while it is still today, let’s witness His glorious victory with all of our ability.

When we feel tired, let’s encourage each other.

When we feel weak, let’s strengthen each other.

When we feel lost, let’s point each other back to Christ.

Let’s not put any stock in last year’s faith or faithfulness.

Today is the day of salvation for ALL of us.

May God, for Christ’s sake, give us more fervency than we had last year. May God give us more heart for Christ and the things concerning Him than we had last year. May God give us a deeper need; a more urgent cry; and may He cause us to see His Word to not only be true, but LIFE!

Lord, show us the Mark! Reveal the Prize! Cause us to reach forth! Press us and we’ll be pressed!

The Trial Of Our Faith

“And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land. And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon: Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive. Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.” | Genesis 12: 10-13

Every sermon sent by God Almighty will always find its focus in the Person of the Lord Jesus.

He is the Alpha and Omega of life.

He is the answer to all eternal questions and the purpose of all things.

Comfort in all trials is found by hearing the message of Christ which proclaims His glory, work, and honor.

We will never be found to honor Him more than to hear and believe His Gospel which, beginning with Moses and throughout all the prophets and in all the scriptures, declare those things that are concerning Him.

The Security Of The Church

“For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name. Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God. Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married. For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.” | Isaiah 62: 1-5

When the apostle Paul, along with some Roman soldiers, was providentially found to be in the midst of a storm called “Euroclydon,” he gave this word of assurance to all those who were fearing for their lives… “sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.” (Acts 27: 25)

The Lord had promised Paul that he must stand before Caesar (Acts 27: 24) and the apostle, by the grace of God, rested in the Lord’s word.

There was no way that God’s word would fail.

Brethren, we’re all promised that our faith shall be tried, (James 1: 3) but may the Lord bring back to our minds His promise to each of His own… “I’ll never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

And by the grace of God, the Lord’s people believe that it shall be as it was told them.

And The Ark Rested

“The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained; And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated. And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen. And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made: And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth. Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground; But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark. CHRIST THE LAMB

“And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” | Genesis 22: 7

When the Gospel is preached, there is one thing that one will always hear… Christ the Lamb.

This is the acid test of a true God centered message. Without a doubt, there are many things that may be preached which in themselves are good. I don’t know many folks that are not against drugs, immorality, abortions, or any other such thing, but these things are not the issue. The issue is the glory of Christ — His work, His holiness, and His satisfaction of the law.

When any man stands up to preach, let this test be set upon the words that you hear: “Where’s the Lamb?” If I don’t hear Him, I haven’t heard the only message that the Holy Ghost will bless to the salvation of a sinner.
