“Lifelock”

“At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.” | John 14: 20

Recently I received an advertisement from a company called “LifeLock.”

It is a company that provides security against “identity theft.”

Identity theft has undoubtedly become a real issue and problem in today’s world.

Crooks and thieves steal your identity and run up debt in your name.

As I read over that advertisement, I was thinking how the Lord Jesus did that to His people in reverse.

Without their permission, He assumed the believer’s identity.

He stepped into their personal business, the business between them and God and He took their place.

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” (1 Timothy 2: 5)

He took control of their account and made it His own.

He didn’t take control of their identity to add debt like a thief does. NO!

He took control of the believer’s account in order to pay the debt of sin that they had accumulated.

He took my debt and paid it in full as a rich friend might do.

O what a rich friend Christ is.

He is rich in love, mercy, grace and forgiveness.

How many friends do you have that would die to pay the debt you owe?

“Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.”

Now, I have His perfect identity, and I am eternally life-locked to Him.

The Glorious Death of the Lord Jesus Christ

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?” | Romans 8: 35

And what if He did not die?

  • Cain would be condemned, and so would Abel.
  • Esau would be cut off, but so would Jacob.
  • Pharaoh would be damned, but so would Moses.
  • Judas would be cast into the lake of fire, but so would Peter, James, and John.
  • Agrippa would perish, but so would Paul.

The point is, our sole and only reason for being saved is His death.

“For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” (Romans 5: 10)

God was completely satisfied by the death of His Son.

His justice was honored, sin was punished, paid for, and put away.

God can ask for nothing more!

And however satisfied He is with the death of His Son is how satisfied He is with those He died for.

Oh how glorious is the death of Christ.

It is the subject of the eternities!

It is the sure and only ground of the salvation of the believer.

The Love Of Christ

“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins,” | 1 John 4: 10

The Love Of Christ is the bond which holds the different stones together in the temple of God.

The Love of Christ is the fence which keeps away from us the wolves of division and discord.

The Love of Christ is the musical score which enables all of the different voices and instruments to play and sing in harmony for His glory.

The Love of Christ is the cloak which covers a multitude of infirmities, faults, and failures and enables us to, “forgive one another even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven us.”

Alleluia: For The Lord God Omnipotent Reigneth

“The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works. He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke. I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.” | Psalm 104: 31-34

Although the sovereignty of God is universal and absolute, it is not the sovereignty of blind power.

It is coupled with infinite wisdom, holiness, and love. And this doctrine, when properly understood, is a most comforting and reassuring one.

Who would not prefer to have his affairs in the hands of a God of infinite power, wisdom, holiness and love, rather than to have them left to fate, or chance, or irrevocable natural law, or to short-sighted and perverted self?

Those who reject God’s sovereignty should consider what alternatives they have left.

Sick of Love

”Lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God” | 2 Timothy 3: 1-4

Love is a word that is one of the most abused words in the world no matter what language it is spoken in.

I for one am sick to death of the love of this world and its abuse. What kind of love is it that causes men and women to live together without marriage? God calls it fornication.

Then there is the love that causes a couple to stand before a preacher, enter into a covenant before God and men, promising to love, and cherish, till death do us part. In a few months or a few years the love dies or even turns to hate. I am sick of this kind of love.

What about mothers and fathers who have children and tell them how much they love them, then start using drugs and would rather give up their children than their drugs or alcohol. I am sick of this sad excuse for love aren’t you? A couple gets married, one of them meets someone else and brings their new lover in over their children, who abuses them, verbally or physically, and they allow it for fear of losing their lover. Oh how sick am I of this love.

The world now rejoices in men loving men and women loving women, when on its face it is perverted and unscriptural, it is against nature itself. Are you as sick of this kind of love as I am?

One thing all these “loves” I have mentioned have in common is a love of self… a love of pleasure.

But there is LOVE that makes my heart full and thankful. The love of God for His elect that was manifested in the Son of His love. I rejoice that He loved us with an everlasting love, and that He commended His love to us while we were yet sinners.

It was His love that made Him go willing to the cross and shed His blood to cleanse us from our sins. Bless His name His love never changes, it is as God Himself, immutable. Having loved us when we were unlovable He will love us and keep us from eternity to eternity.

Come See A Man

“Come See A Man… Is Not This The Christ?” | John 4: 29

The story of the Lord revealing Himself to the woman at the well is every believer’s story. The Lord chose her, must needs go and find her, speak to her, convict and convince her of her sin, reveal Himself to her… save her from her sins. And upon meeting the Lord Jesus Christ, she dropped everything and went home to tell everyone what great things the Lord had done for her. She became a witness of Christ, saying, “Come see a man… Is not this the Christ?”

Before she met Christ she spoke of her religion, the place she attended. Not now. She now speaks of Christ. Before she met Christ she talked to people about her church, her preacher, “Come see our choir, come be a part of our church, come experience the fire.” Not now! She now says, “Come see a man”… “Come see the Christ.” To everyone she meets, she says, “Come hear the gospel of Christ and Him crucified… Come see and behold His glory, as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth!

Before she met Christ she spoke to others mostly about the weather, her husband(s), politics and the things of the world. Not now. She now speaks of Christ. Her conversation is of heavenly things and of her true Husband, Christ! She now knows this man is no mere man; not calling Him ‘Jesus’, but now calling Him THE CHRIST. And so it is with everyone who has truly met and heard from the Lord Jesus Christ.

How can you tell if someone is truly saved; if someone has met the true God, His Christ, and has eternal life? Like this woman, they will speak of Him. They will speak of God’s sovereign electing mercy in choosing them, calling them; of His sovereign grace in saving them. They will speak of how He came to them; how He chose them; how He gave life to them. They will speak of His will in their salvation, not their own sinful will. They will glory in His sovereignty and be ashamed of their sin and ignorance. Their speech will be of God’s sovereign love, mercy and grace in Jesus Christ. Like this woman, they all speak of how He came to them through the gospel, revealing Himself to them (in them) and giving them the gift of salvation (not offering it); giving them His righteousness, shedding His precious blood for the remission of their sins; putting in them the water of life. They will speak of Him. It will be all of Him, for Christ is all in all to all His people.

You see, ‘out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.’ When the Lord has truly revealed Himself in you; if Christ is in you, you will be in love with Christ, eternally grateful to Christ, and like a child speaks of His parent, like a wife speaks of her husband; those who know and love Christ will speak of Christ.

And They Continued Stedfastly

“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” | Acts 2: 42

If we have true fellowship with one another, it is because we worship the true and living God together. (1 John 1: 3) If we truly break bread together, it is because we are made of the same bread and body. (1 Corinthians 10: 17) If we truly pray together, it is because Chirst has made us of one accord. (Acts 1: 14)

It is a great privilege for brethren to worship together, talk to one another about our Master, observe the Lords Table together, eat together, and pray together. May we always be reminded of the cause of all our “spiritual blessings in heavenly places, IN CHRIST.”

I Will Never Leave Thee Nor Forsake Thee

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” | Hebrews 13: 5

Children of God often find themselves in distress and sorrow in this world and in uncertainty about the happenings of this world.

So we need to be reminded often that our comfort and confidence comes from the certainty of salvation in Christ and His constant presence with His people.

His precious promise to never leave nor forsake His people comforts our heart in the worst sorrow and the greatest uncertainty about the things of this world.
