Jesus Christ Is The Issue

“The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.” | Psalm 34: 15

A child of God should never feel forgotten because the eyes of the Lord are always upon the righteous.

Our circumstances have not escaped His notice.

He knows our circumstance because He has ordained it according to His eternal purpose and will.

A child of God should also be comforted to remember that the ears of our heavenly Father are always open to the cries of His children.

Not only does our Father hear the cries of His children but He tells us that we ought always to pray, and not to faint”.

“And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;” (Luke 18: 1)

What comfort to know that the Lord sees His people and will always hear their prayer.

Live In An Attitude Of Thanksgiving And Prayer

”Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” | 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18

The Apostle Paul says, “Rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing and give thanks to God in all things”.

This is the will of God; that we rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks.

What we are, what we have, where we are, and all that happens in the life of a believer are all according to the will of God for us.

Let us rejoice in prosperity or adversity, and live in an attitude of thanksgiving and prayer, even when we have no particular request.

Very ungrateful is the man who does not set so high a value on the love of God, the righteousness of Christ, and the hope of eternal life that he allows anything in this life to overshadow that wonderful gift of grace.

How can I murmur and complain when I am a child of the King of kings?

A Joyful Heart

”A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.” | Proverbs 17: 22

If we knew how needy we are, we would not neglect to pray.

If we knew how vile we are, we would not fail to thank Him for His mercy.

If we knew how glorious He is, we would not cease to praise Him.

If we knew how soon we will be with Him, we would not be discouraged.

The Lord God Will Come

“When the poor and the needy seek for water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I, the Lord will hear them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. I will open rivers in dry places, and fountains in the midst of valleys.” | Isaiah 41: 17-18

The Lord sometimes, and perhaps not unfrequently, induces darkness, that His light may be more striking. He hedges up His people’s way with thorns, that the almighty hand, which removes them, may be more plainly seen.

Oh! it is blessed to be brought low, to be surrounded sometimes with difficulties, to see no way of escape, and all human resources fail, purposely that our extremity may be the Lord’s opportunity, and when we are most low, Jesus may be most exalted.

My soul, is it now even-tide in the soul, as it is eventide in the day? Art thou stripped, humbled, convinced of thy nothingness?

O look to all-precious, all-suitable Jesus.

Hear what the Lord saith: “At evening-time it shall be light.” (Zechariah 14: 7)

Where is God? What is He Doing?

“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.” | Romans 10: 1

Believers pray for their sin to be forgiven. We pray for our loved ones to hear the Gospel of free grace in Christ and to be drawn to Him. We pray for our brethren in Christ to be comforted, and we pray for God to call out His elect in this generation. But do we pray for our enemies?

Paul was praying for the salvation of his earthly kinsmen in Romans 9: 3 and 10: 1. Those Jews viewed him as a traitor. One who changed sides during a holy war. They likely referred to him only as Saul, and with a sour tone in their voices mocking him. They would torture and kill him if they could. But Paul earnestly prayed for them to hear and to know Christ.

Our Master told us to do just that in Matthew 5: 44. He said to “pray for them that despitefully use you.” Christ not only told us to pray for OUR enemies, but on our behalf, He prayed for HIS enemies – “Father, forgive them; they know not what they do.” (Luke 23: 34) Also, He died for His sheep while we were ungodly enemies against Him. (Romans 5: 6-8)

May we be given the grace to pray for the ones that hate us, despise us and would kill us if possible. That they too may know their sin and know the One who was made sin for His people, The Lord Jesus Christ!
