I Saw The Lord

”In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.” | Isaiah 6: 1

To see the Lord Jesus Christ in a vision as Isaiah did surely would be a wonder to behold.

The vision refers to the exaltation of Christ, after His humiliation here on earth. Although we do not see Him in a vision, we see Him exactly as Isaiah did, on the Throne of His glory, high and lifted up, worshipped by the innumerable company of saints being accompanied by the host of heaven.

We see Him by faith in His glorious reign as He is revealed in His Word by the preaching of the gospel.

For the child of God to ‘see Him as He is’ initiates worship and adoration. Peace and comfort flow from Him to us like a river because we see ourselves gathered with Him there. His love, mercy, grace and omnipotence preside over all His loved ones to their good, to the destruction of every foe, and to His glory. Because He is there and we are there with Him everything will be all right.

Every one of His sheep see Him exactly the same because He is the same. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” (Hebrews 13: 8)

We see Him having accomplished eternal redemption for us, having purchased us with His Own blood, having put away our sin by the sacrifice of Himself, having raised from the dead proving our justification, having ascended to the throne of His glory ever living to make intercession for us. The sight of Him there assures our hearts before Him here.

The believer’s desire is to see the Lord, and He has promised to give us the desire of our heart. “One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.” (Psalm 27: 4)

Of all the wonders there are to behold there is nothing that compares to beholding the Lamb in the midst of the throne.

How do you see the Lord?

A Profound Word

“And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.” | Acts 27: 44

Here is a profound word — “Again”

The new birth is a mystery of grace.

It cannot be explained; neither can it be fully understood. It is a work of God beyond our comprehension. When our Lord says, “Ye must be born again,” his meaning is twofold. The word again has two meanings.

First, it means, “You must be born from above.”

James tells us that “every good and perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” Then he tells us what he is teaching in the next verse. “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth.” (James 1: 17-18)

Second, it means, “You must be born a second time.”

Your first birth was of sinful parents, and you were born in their image.

The second birth is of God, and we are born in his image.
— The first birth was of corruptible seed. The second birth is of incorruptible seed.
— Our first birth is in sin. Our second birth is in righteousness.
— By our first birth we were polluted and unclean. By our second birth we become holy.
— Our first birth was fleshly and carnal. Our second birth is spiritual and makes us spiritual.
— By the first birth all men are foolish and ignorant. By our second birth we become wise unto salvation.
— By our first birth we were slaves to sin and the lusts of the flesh. By our second birth we are made free from the dominion of sin.
— By our first birth we are all children of wrath. By our second birth we are children of promise.

Our Lord says, “Ye must be born again,” because we were all born wrong the first time.

FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE

“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” | 1 Corinthians 13: 13

What great blessings the Lord has freely and eternally given unto His church! (Romans 8: 32)

Indeed, Christ has blessed us with all spiritual blessings. (Ephesians 1: 3) The apostle Paul makes mention of these three great and spiritual blessings that abide in every believer; faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Why would Paul say that? Because it is true!

Every believer lives by faith, (Romans 1: 17) walks by faith (2 Corinthians 5: 7) and will die in faith, (Hebrews 13: 5), always looking to and trusting in Christ. (Hebrews 12: 2) But one day faith will end in perfect and complete sight, when we behold the Lord Jesus Christ face to face. (1 John 3: 2)

Likewise, every believer lives with a fervent hope, a living hope and a blessed hope; (Titus 2: 13) because it is a good hope through grace. (2 Thessalonians 2: 16) Hope springs from faith in Christ, (Hebrews 11: 1) for He is our hope. (Colossians 1: 27; 1 Timothy 1: 1) But the good hope we have in Christ, that too will one day come to an end in the certain expectation of the reality of that hope being predestinated to be just like the Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 8: 29-30)

But the greatest of these gifts is love; the love of God that is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5: 5) will never end. Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ. (Romans 8: 38)

Our love for the Lord Jesus Christ had a beginning but it will never have an end. We only love Him because He first loved us. (1 John 4: 19)

When did the Lord start loving His own? From eternity in the covenant of grace! (Jeremiah 31: 3) The Lord’s love for His church is a sacrificial love. (Ephesians 5: 25; 1 John 4: 10) He laid down His life for His church. (John 13: 1) Oh how precious is that love for us!

May God grant us to be always thankful for this gift of His love unto us and may He cause it to grow in such a way as to glorify Him now and forever.

One day soon every believer will sing forever; “Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen (Revelation 1: 5-6)

Who Did God Appoint To Salvation?

“For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,” | 1 Thessalonians 5: 9

Here are five truths concerning the salvation that is IN and OF our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

#1 Jesus Christ came into this world to save SINNERS. (Matthew 1: 21)

#2 Jesus Christ came into this world to save the CHIEF sinners. (1 Timothy 1: 15)

#3 Jesus Christ ONLY saves sinners. (Luke 5: 32)

#4 Jesus Christ only saves sinners FREELY. (Isaiah 55: 1, Romans 3: 24, Revelation 22: 17)

#5 Jesus Christ only saves sinners FULLY/COMPLETELY. (John 19: 30, Colossians 2: 10)

Our Lord came on purpose, to save a particular people, and He accomplished what He came to do!

If you are one of those particular people, and if He accomplished salvation for you, then He will notify you of it through the preaching of His Word.

In His notification, He will convince you of the fact that you are a sinner; the worst sinner you’ve ever known! That is the very reason why He had to die. It was to save you from your sins. His death was God the Father’s free gift to you. And in His free gift, you are completely redeemed!

It was all appointed by the Father, and obtained by the Son.

To Him be glory forever!

The Believer’s Position

The believer is perfect in Christ; but in himself he is a poor, feeble creature, ever liable to fall.

Oh, the unspeakable blessedness of having One who can manage all his affairs for him at the right hand of the Majesty in the heavens; One who upholds him always by His right hand; One who will never let him go; One who is “the same yesterday, today, and forever;” One who will bear him through all the difficulties and dangers which surround him and finally present him faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. Blessed forever be the grace that has made such provision for all our need in the blood of a spotless victim and the intercession of a Divine High Priest!
