It Pleased The Lord To Bruise Him

”Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.” | Isaiah 53: 10

There are several reasons the Father took pleasure in bruising His Son by sacrificing Him upon the tree.

It pleased the holy justice of the Father to slaughter His Son as the substitute for His people because the Son was made sin for His people.

“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53: 4-5)

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities.

“He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.” (Isaiah 53: 8)

He was stricken for our transgressions.

“Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.” (Isaiah 53: 10)

It pleased the Father to see His eternal purpose of the redemption of His people accomplished through the death, burial, and resurrection of His Son made flesh.

It pleased the holy nature of God. God can only accept what is perfectly holy.

“He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.” (Isaiah 53: 11)

The Father is pleased to accept His people because the sacrifice of Christ fully justified them.

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53: 5)

It pleased the grace of God to make peace for His elect people through the sacrifice of the Son.

It Pleased The Lord To Bruise Him

“Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.” | Isaiah 53: 10

The death of Christ pleased every attribute of the Father.

The death of Christ pleased God’s wisdom.

The death of Christ enables God to be both just and justifier.

The death of Christ pleased God’s justice.

Christ suffered for the sin of His people until the debt was paid in full.

The death of Christ pleased God’s mercy and grace.

The death of Christ enables God to be merciful to His people in justice because their sin has been put away.

Since Christ died God can justify the ungodly, God can forgive sin, and God can accept His people into His presence because He is pleased with them in Christ.

Yet It Pleased The LORD To Bruise Him

”And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.” |

However men may wrestle and quibble with the Scriptures, one thing is certain: The Atonement is no failure!

God will not allow that precious and costly sacrifice to fail in accomplishing, completely, that which it was designed to effect.

Not a drop of that Holy Blood was shed in vain.

In the last great day there shall stand forth no disappointed and defeated Savior, but One Who “shall see of the travail of His soul and shall be satisfied.”

WHAT SUITS ME

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings:” | Philippians 2: 13-14

Being the sinner I am, knowing my weakness and inability, God has provided me just what I need; He suits my needs.

His Word suits my need. It tells me of God and who He is, what He does in this world and what He will do in the world to come. His Word tells of His absolute sovereignty, of how He can be a just God and Savior. That salvation is by His will, not man’s. That salvation is what God does for man, not what man does for God.

His will suits me from the top of my head down to my feet. I know His will is the best thing for me. Thank God He has not left me to my will, but in His infinite wisdom orders all things for my good and His glory. His Will is perfect, which suits my imperfection.

The Lord Jesus Christ suits my needs as a sinner: His blood cleanses me from all sin, His obedience is given in place of my rebellion, and His righteousness is given to me in place of my righteousness, which is a filthy rag.

His word tells me Christ Jesus came to save sinners. I am one of them. That He came to seek and save the lost, I was one of them. In fact I was so lost that only He could find me, and bless His holy name, He found me and saved me from my sin which was so great.

His word tells me that not only has He saved me from my sin and my rebellion, but that He will carry on His work. Not one for whom He died will ever be cast out, which gives assurance that I will not ever be forsaken of Him.

Yes, everything from His Word, His will, and His Son and the salvation that He has given me suits me perfectly.
