Did Christ Die For Everybody?

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” ~ 2 Corinthians 5: 17

There is a chorus that we love to sing which says:

“Did you hear what the Lord Jesus said to me? They’re all taken away, away! Thy sins are pardoned, and you are free. They’re all taken away!”

With that good news declaration being proclaimed to sinners in the word of God, the apostle Paul said: “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3: 13,14)

As we leave one year and enter into a new year, may this thought bring great joy to our hearts: In the Lord Jesus Christ our old, dark past has been dealt with and put away. It is over! And the only thing that awaits us ahead is the new light of a sinless eternity with Christ! He is our “mark”; let’s press toward Him!

Exhortation to Faith, Patience, and Godliness

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

~ Hebrews 12: 1-2

The Glorious Death of the Lord Jesus Christ

“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died.”

And what if He did not die?

  • Cain would be condemned, and so would Abel.
  • Esau would be cut off, but so would Jacob.
  • Pharaoh would be damned, but so would Moses.
  • Judas would be cast into the lake of fire, but so would Peter, James, and John.
  • Agrippa would perish, but so would Paul.

The point is, our sole and only reason for being saved is His death. “If when we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son.” God was completely satisfied by the death of His Son. His justice was honored, sin was punished, paid for, and put away. God can ask for nothing more! And however satisfied He is with the death of His Son is how satisfied He is with those He died for.

Oh how glorious is the death of Christ. It is the subject of the eternities! It is the sure and only ground of the salvation of the believer.
