Made Holy

“Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.” | Romans 14: 4

Every believer has been made holy in Christ.

This does not mean that a believer does not commit sin.

A believer constantly sins but the scripture says that the Lord does not impute sin to the believer because He imputed that sin to Christ at Calvary and Christ put that sin away by the blood of His sacrifice.

That is what David said in Psalm 32: 1-2. “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.”

Wait On The Lord

“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” | Psalm 27: 14

Waiting on the Lord is an attitude that is completely foreign to the natural man.

That’s why the new man struggles while he truly desires to wait on the One who loves him and gave Himself for him.

He knows that the Lord is working all things after the counsel of His own will and that whatsoever comes to pass has been eternally purposed by the Lord for His glory and the eternal good of His elect and shall not fail to be brought about.

But though these truths are known and loved by the people of God… still they experience the battle within to take matters into their own hands.

O may the Lord help us to wait upon Him.

God Delivers His People

“If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.” | 1 John 5: 9-10

How blessedly God times His interventions.

He is never too early, and never too late.

It is the impatience of unbelief and the fretfulness of self-will which so often makes us think the Lord is tardy.

“And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.” (Isaiah 30: 18)

Often God “waits that He may be gracious” in order to bring us to the end of ourselves, and that the deliverance may more evidently appear to be from Himself.

At other times, He delays His intervention on behalf of His own for the greater chagrin and dismay of their enemies.

Christ Our Hope

“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;” | 1 Timothy 1: 1

What is hope?

Hope is expectation with a reasonable basis.

What the world calls hope is an empty wish.

It’s like a child holding a present on their birthday hoping to find what they want.

But, hope in the scriptures is defined as a person: Christ in you the hope of glory.

This hope comes through a Godly persuasion, “…I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.” (2 Timothy 1: 2) Also, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8: 38-39)

The believer’s hope is not I hope, I hope, I hope — but it is hope founded upon the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our expectations fully depend on the appointments of the Lord Jesus Christ.

His coming as the God man, His obedience, His suffering, His death, His resurrection, and His present reign in glory. “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” (1 John 5: 12)

Paul said “he was an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Savior, and the Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope.” (1 Timothy 1: 1)

May the Lord be pleased to make Him our hope for the glory of His own name.

His Glory, Work, and Honor

“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.” | Genesis 1: 3-5

Every sermon sent by God Almighty will always find its focus in the Person of the Lord Jesus.

He is the Alpha and Omega of life.

He is the answer to all eternal questions and the purpose of all things.

Comfort in all trials is found by hearing the message of Christ which proclaims His glory, work, and honor.

We will never be found to honor Him more than to hear and believe His Gospel which, beginning with Moses and throughout all the prophets and in all the scriptures, declare those things that are concerning Him.

Perfect To Be Accepted

“And whosoever offereth a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD to accomplish his vow, or a freewill offering in beeves or sheep, it shall be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no blemish therein.” | Leviticus 22: 21

The voice from the cross did not summon men to do, but to be satisfied with what was done, “It is finished.”

The sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ is the only perfect thing which has ever been presented to God on man’s behalf.

“It shall be perfect to be accepted, there shall be no blemish therein.”

Satan’s Gospel Versus God’s Gospel

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” | John 1: 14

My friends, if you will carefully consider it, this is the most extraordinary fact ever declared in human language.

God became a man and “took upon him the likeness of sinful flesh.”

The Ancient of Days became an infant of days.

The Son of the Most-High God became a man of sorrows.

He made the world; but as a man, “he had no place to lay his head.”

He who made the rivers asked a woman to give him a drink of water.

He who cast out devils was tempted of the devil, and the author of life died and lay in a tomb.

“The sun that hid from Him its face by His own hand was hung in space; The sky which darkened o’er His head by Him above the world was spread; The spear that shed His precious blood was tempered in the fires of God; The grave in which His form was laid was hewn in rocks His hand had made.”

The Remedy For The Fear of Man

”Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” | Ephesians 6: 11-12

THE FEAR OF GOD… drives away the fear of man, which brings a snare.

Christ says, “Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear Him, which, after He hath killed, hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear Him.” (Luke 12: 4-5)

Christ Himself proposes the fear of God as the great remedy for the fear of man.

Nor is there any other that is found adequate.

But this is enough.

How justly does God rebuke that fear of man: “Who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass; and forgettest the Lord thy Maker, that stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor?” (Isaiah 51: 12-13)

It is not possible for us to fear God too much or man too little.

So surely as we have just conceptions of the eternal power and majesty of God, we shall have no tormenting fear of the puny arm of mortals.
