The God Of Daniel Is Able

”And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.” | John 17: 3-4

In all the heresies that have troubled the church over the last 2,000 years — there is, in truth, only one heresy – The Insufficiency of Christ.

No matter what form a heresy may take – free-willism, ceremonialism, legalism, moralism and so forth – the underlying issue is a lack of belief that Christ is the necessary and sufficient Savior for sinners.

We need Him, and He is all we need.

In a very real sense, many shall perish forever, not because they did not have enough, but because they had too much.

They believed that Christ was necessary for their salvation, but they prove they do not believe that Christ is sufficient for they act as though the salvation brought by Christ is waiting for them to do something that activates or supplements the work of Christ.

But the glory of the gospel of Christ is that its success rests entirely on the work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The gospel of God requires nothing from us.

It comes to us as sinners, expecting nothing from us other than sin.

Even the faith by which we lay hold of Christ does not arise from our natural selves but is a gift from God, given to us without us asking for it, worked in us by the power of the Spirit of God as He imparts new spiritual life to us through the New Birth.

Everything in the gospel is designed so that “he who boasts, boasts in the Lord.”

The praise of heaven does not contain a single word about the works of man.

Rather, every syllable is toward the Son of God.

He did it; He did it all; He did it well!

I WILL NEVER LEAVE THEE NOR FORSAKE THEE

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” | Hebrews 13: 5

Children of God often find themselves in distress and sorrow in this world and in uncertainty about the happenings of
this world.

So we need to be reminded often that our comfort and confidence comes from the certainty of salvation in Christ and His constant presence with His people.

His precious promise to never leave nor forsake His people comforts our heart in the worst sorrow and the greatest uncertainty about the things of this world.

Submit Yourselves to God

“God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble. Submit yourself therefore to God. | James 4: 6-7)

The way to overcome pride and defeat the spirit of envy, strife, and contention is to SUBMIT YOURSELVES TO GOD.

1). To His will regarding gifts, natural or spiritual.

2). To leave it to God to make us what He would have us to be.

3). To leave it to God to prosper or empty us.

4). To leave it to God to honor or humiliate us.

Resist thoughts of envy, jealousy, covetousness, and fretting, and submit yourselves to God.

Our Lord is mindful of our needs and will supply. (Philippians 4: 19)

And The Ark Rested

“The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained; And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated. And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen. And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made: And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth. Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground; But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark. And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark; And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth. And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more.” | Genesis 8: 2-12

When the apostle Paul, along with some Roman soldiers, was providentially found to be in the midst of a storm called “Euroclydon,” he gave this word of assurance to all those who were fearing for their lives… “sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me” (Acts 27: 25)

The Lord had promised Paul that he must stand before Caesar (Acts 27: 24) and the apostle, by the grace of God, rested in the Lord’s word.

There was no way that God’s word would fail.

Brethren, we’re all promised that our faith shall be tried, (James 1:3) but may the Lord bring back to our minds His promise to each of His own… “I’ll never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

And by the grace of God, the Lord’s people believe that shall be as it was told them.

Lord, What Will You Have Me To Do?

“Lord, what will you have me to do?” Acts 9: 6

This is Paul’s question on the road where he met the sovereign Christ.

It was not, ‘what do I think is best for me?’ Or ‘what will afford me the most pleasure and comfort?’ Or even ‘what do other people do?’ But “Lord, what will YOU have me to do?”

In every case enable me, by Thy grace, to do what is pleasing in Thy sight and that which will bring glory to Thy name.

Where we get in trouble is putting our wills and ways before His!

It is not I but Christ, His gospel, His church, His kingdom, His glory, which must be considered.

When this is settled “I” will fall in the right place and though the way may not be easy; in the end it will be pleasant.

“In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3: 6)

A Promise to Weary Sinners

Oh, that a weary, brokenhearted world would learn these lessons of grace!

Oh, that they would taste and see that God is good!

Let them but come home to Him. He will not mock them with shadows, nor feed them with husks.

He will satisfy their craving souls; He will turn their midnight into noon; He will give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord.
