The Lord Jesus Christ Set His Love On Sinners

“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” | 1 Timothy 1: 15

Do you know who will love to hear that Christ came to save sinners?

Sinners will!

Do you know who will love to hear that Christ came not to call the righteous, but sinners?

Sinners will!

Do you know who will love to hear that Christ died on purpose, for a particular people, whom the word of God calls ungodly sinners?

Ungodly (in the flesh) sinners will love to hear that!

The blood of Christ was not shed for the self righteous world, but it was shed for sinners.

Christ did not set His love on the self righteous world, but He set His love on sinners.

Christ will not receive the self righteous world, but He said He would receive sinners!

So, let me ask you this question: Are you a sinner?

If you are, like I am, this is the greatest news we will ever hear in our lives… “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”

The Glorious Death of the Lord Jesus Christ

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?” | Romans 8: 35

And what if He did not die?

  • Cain would be condemned, and so would Abel.
  • Esau would be cut off, but so would Jacob.
  • Pharaoh would be damned, but so would Moses.
  • Judas would be cast into the lake of fire, but so would Peter, James, and John.
  • Agrippa would perish, but so would Paul.

The point is, our sole and only reason for being saved is His death.

“For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” (Romans 5: 10)

God was completely satisfied by the death of His Son.

His justice was honored, sin was punished, paid for, and put away.

God can ask for nothing more!

And however satisfied He is with the death of His Son is how satisfied He is with those He died for.

Oh how glorious is the death of Christ.

It is the subject of the eternities!

It is the sure and only ground of the salvation of the believer.

The Necessity and Importance of the Gospel

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3: 13,14)

Brethren, as we leave one year behind us and enter in to another year ahead of us, let us (now more than we ever have before) press the necessity and importance of the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Let’s press the necessity and importance of hearing, believing, and gathering together in worship.

Let’s press it to ourselves, our children, our parents, our siblings, our friends and our acquaintances.

It is truly the one thing that is needful.

With another year gone, it only means that time is running out.

Let’s redeem it!

While there is still breath in us, our responsibility in this life on earth is to glorify and praise our Redeemer and King; and to tell all who will listen how great things He has done for us!

Our God said that it has pleased Him to use the means of preaching His accomplishment on the cross to call His chosen people from darkness to light.

So, while it is still today, let’s witness His glorious victory with all of our ability.

  • When we feel tired, let’s encourage each other.
  • When we feel weak, let’s strengthen each other.
  • When we feel lost, let’s point each other back to Christ.

Let’s not put any stock in last year’s faith or faithfulness.

Today is the day of salvation for ALL of us.

May God, for Christ’s sake, give us more fervency than we had last year.

May God give us more heart for Christ and the things concerning Him than we had last year.

May God give us a deeper need; a more urgent cry; and may He cause us to see His Word to not only be true, but LIFE!

Lord, show us the Mark!

Reveal the Prize!

Cause us to reach forth!

Press us and we’ll be pressed!

The Lord is my Portion

“The Lord Is The Portion Of Mine Inheritance” | Psalm 6: 5

Therefore, if I never have what this world considers to be desirable, if I never have this world’s wealth or applause, that is all right. The Lord is my portion.

If my life does not turn out as I thought it would and I never make an impact, the Lord is still my portion.

If I am brought to see that I am nothing, that is not damaging knowledge to me. It makes me see more clearly that “Christ is ALL.”

He that has nothing but the Lord as his portion, in reality has everything!

He who has everything but Christ, in reality has nothing.

Blessed is the man who can see the vanity of this world and rejoice that “The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance.”

Not a Drop of The Lord’s Blood Was Shed in Vain

However men may wrestle and quibble with the Scriptures, one thing is certain: The Atonement is no failure!

God will not allow that precious and costly sacrifice to fail in accomplishing completely, that which it was designed to effect.

Not a drop of that Holy Blood was shed in vain.

In the last great day there shall stand forth no disappointed and defeated Savior, but One Who “shall see of the travail of His soul and shall be satisfied.”

Redeemed In Christ

Here is a word from God that should brighten the day for you – “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree.” (Galatians 3: 13)

When the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, hung upon the cross, he was made to be a curse, an object of Divine wrath and Judgment, so that we who believe might never endure the curse of God’s wrath. He did not simply make it possible for us to be redeemed. He did not simply make us redeemable.

The text says, “Christ Hath redeemed us from the curse of the law!” This redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ is the central theme of Holy Scripture, the foundation of our faith, and the only hope we have of eternal salvation.

The Comfort Of Christ

“Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” | 1 Thessalonians 4: 18

The comfort that our God has given to us within the pages of His Word is indescribable.

For every low and broken child of God who needs it, there is an endless supply of mercy in the blood of Christ; an endless supply of grace in the gift of Christ; an endless supply of righteousness in the work of Christ; an endless supply of satisfaction in the offering of Christ; and an endless supply of appeasement in the intercession of Christ.

The more that we see of our sin, the more comfort we find in the Savior of sinners.

The more we see of our insufficiency, the more comfort we find in His ALL sufficiency.

The more we see of our need, the more comfort we find in the fullness of His supply.

When we’re sad, He cheers us. When we’re empty, He fills us. When we’re far, He draws us back near to Him.

Oh, the comfort that we have in the Holy Word that tells us of our God and Savior, Redeemer and Friend, Christ Jesus our Lord. Brethren, let’s comfort one another with these words.

The Importance Of This Fellowship To Me

1.) I am a believer, a son of God in Christ Jesus. God has been pleased to reveal His Son in me. He is my life, my hope, and my refuge. I live by His grace and grow on His Word. And so I must constantly be where I can hear His Word in power, in the Holy Ghost, and in assurance. I must be fed on the truth!

2.) I love Christ, He is precious to me, and so all that is of Christ (His church, His ordinances, and His people) is precious to me. I not only feel that I must be identified with them in this world but it’s also my greatest enjoyment to fellowship with believers around the person of Christ. I am just not happy or content around those who do not know or rejoice in Him. Where the people of Christ go, I will go; where they lodge, I will lodge; where they die, I will die, and there I will be buried. I will not be interested by whatever temptation there may arise to leave them.

3.) I am a frail human. I am subject to fall and subject to attacks from the world, the flesh, and the devil. I am not perfect and I have not arrived. I fear indifference, sin, and coldness of heart. Therefore, I need to be exhorted daily, I need to be encouraged, I need to be comforted, and I need to be rebuked. The world and its liberal preacher who cries “peace, peace” and the religionist will not do these things for me; only the true pastor and the true believer (who know my nature and need) can be all these things to me.

4.) I am a witness. Christ said, “Ye shall be my witnesses.” I am concerned for the salvation of my family, friends, and people around the world; therefore, I desire to bring my family and friends under the word of truth and help to send pastors, evangelists, preachers, and missionaries to other towns and countries to preach Christ.

My Father, I thank Thee for this fellowship of believers. I pray you will make them a blessing to me and will make me a blessing to them!

“Lifelock”

“At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.” | John 14: 20

Recently I received an advertisement from a company called “LifeLock.” It is a company that provides security against “identity theft.” Identity theft has undoubtedly become a real issue and problem in today’s world. Crooks and thieves steal your identity and run up debt in your name. As I read over that advertisement, I was thinking how the Lord Jesus did that to His people in reverse.

Without their permission, He assumed the believer’s identity. He stepped into their personal business, the business between them and God and He took their place. (1 Timothy 2: 5) He took control of their account and made it His own.

He didn’t take control of their identity to add debt like a thief does. NO! He took control of the believer’s account in order to pay the debt of sin that they had accumulated. He took my debt and paid it in full as a rich friend might do.

O what a rich friend Christ is. He is rich in love, mercy, grace and forgiveness. How many friends do you have that would die to pay the debt you owe? Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow. Now, I have His perfect identity, and I am eternally life-locked to Him.

Christ is All And in All!

“Unto you that believe, He is precious.” Believers receive Christ, rejoice in Christ, and to them He is precious. His obedience is our righteousness, His blood is our atonement. His prayers are our intercession. His reign is our glory. His coming is our hope! Christ is all and in all!
