Justified From All Things

”For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption. Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.” | Acts 13: 36-39

Barnabas, coming to Antioch, saw with the eyes of faith the grace of God and was glad.

He was glad that the Lord was pleased to bless His word to the salvation of His elect, and exhorted the believers to cleave to the Lord.

Being glad, cheerful and happy to behold the grace of God is the experience of every believer.

We’re glad to be where the Lord is pleased to meet with His people… glad to be where Christ is honored in the preaching of the Gospel… and glad that we want to be there…

Do Not Praise the Dead and Shun the Living

”O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth.” | Psalm 105: 1-5

If I truly believe the gospel of God’s sovereign grace and glory, I will not hesitate to be fully identified with those who believe and preach that gospel IN MY DAY. Paul said to Timothy, “Do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner.”

It is cowardice and compromising to brag on dead preachers like Spurgeon, Pink, and Barnard, and yet fail to support, encourage, and hear those who preach the same gospel NOW!

Such professors who never bear the scars of battle will never wear the crown.

Those who shun the good fight of faith in their day will never celebrate the victory in that great day of our Lord.

That I May Know Him

THAT I MAY KNOW HIM

“The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.” | Hosea 1: 2

Before the Apostle Paul’s conversion, he knew the law, he knew the traditions, and he thought he knew God.

But when the Lord crossed his path on the Damascus Road, and revealed himself to Paul, then he found out who Christ is.

He was never the same.

And from that day forward Paul’s aim and desire was to know more about the one who knew him.

It was all about knowing a person, not just knowing a doctrine. “I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.” (2 Timothy 1: 12)

Paul was not afraid to preach the one he knew, he was not ashamed of him, because the one He knew was not ashamed of him. This gave him a boldness to preach his Gospel, and he wanted others to know this one that he knew. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1: 16)

Grace Brings Salvation

“Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, how is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.” | John 4: 9

The woman of Samaria told the Lord Jesus that the religious Jews, out of their self-righteous pride, would have no dealings with the Samaritans, people who the Jews considered to be too sinful for salvation.

But thank God, the Lord Jesus Christ came to save and to have dealings with sinners.

He is the friend of sinners. (Matthew 11: 19)

Christ did not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance. (Matthew 9: 12:13)

The Lord Jesus Christ came to seek and to save the lost. (Luke 19: 10)

Now the question for us to consider, are we sinners? Yes!

Do we need the salvation from the hand of the Lord? Yes!

This is a faithful saying, Christ came to save sinners. (1 Timothy 1: 12)

If You Be Circumcised

”Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.” | Galatians 5: 2

It is a man’s guilt that makes Christ necessary for Him; but it is a man’s righteousness that will render Christ ineffective for him.

The blood of Christ is the remedy for a man’s sin, but what shall avail for a remedy for a man’s righteousness? Only the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit of God is able to overcome a man’s resistance to the grace of the blood and to make him despair of even his righteousness.

But, to refine the point even more, it is the Holy Spirit’s work in revealing the testimony of the blood of Christ that breaks the self-righteous will of man and makes him submit to Christ as his only righteousness before God.

So it is the blood poured out by Christ that remedies the sin of a man, and it is that same blood revealed by the Holy Spirit that remedies the righteousness of man.

HOW DO I KNOW I AM SAVED?

“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” | Colossians 2: 9-12

We can never determine whether or not someone is saved by what they do or don’t do.

Determining salvation based on the deeds of the law is legalistic.

We know that no one is saved by their obedience to any part of the law.

Judging salvation based on what someone does or does not do is cruel because it puts them under law, not under grace.

The sole determining factor in salvation is faith in Christ.

The question is not whether or not you have sin in your life. Of course you have sin in your life!

The only question is: Do you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ?

Do you trust Christ to be everything it takes to save you, without any help from you?

If your answer to that question is yes, then Christ has saved you and revealed Himself to you and in you.

THE LORD GAVE AND THE LORD HATH TAKEN AWAY

”Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, and said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD” | Job 1: 20-21

When God had sent Job severe trials he fell down upon the ground and worshipped. (Job 1: 20)

In his worship he magnified his Lord as the absolute sovereign in all things. (Romans 11: 36)

Some people would only recognize that the Lord gives, which He abundantly does. (Psalm 40: 5; John 3: 16) However, the believer also rejoices that the Lord gives and that the Lord does take away.

The Lord Jesus Christ does abundantly give His people all things in salvation. “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8: 32; 1 Corinthians 2: 12) The believer can also rejoice that the Lord does also take away.

He has taken away all our sin. “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1: 29) “But now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself” (Hebrews 9: 26)

Believers, like Job, bow before the Lord and worship Him. We do rejoice that our great God does all things well.

As David said, “As for God, His way is perfect” (2 Samuel 22: 31)

Be Still and Know that I Am God

”Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” | Psalm 46: 10

Salvation has three tenses: past, present, and future.

Past tense of Salvation: We have been saved from sin’s penalty by Christ’s death on the cross: “But He was wounded for our transgressions” (Isaiah 53: 5)

Present tense of Salvation: We are being saved from sin’s power by Christ’s intercession on high: “He ever liveth to make intercession for them” (Hebrews 7: 25)

Future tense of Salvation: We shall be saved from sin’s presence: “And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth.” (Revelation 21: 27)

Jesus Christ Is The Alpha and Omega

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” | Revelation 1: 8

What glorious, powerful and true statement this scripture proclaims.

The Lord Jesus Christ is sum and substance, the beginning and the ending of all the Holy Scriptures. The whole message of the Bible is all about the person and work of Christ from Genesis to the Revelation. (Luke 24: 27; Luke 24: 44; John 5: 39; Acts 10: 43)

The Lord Jesus Christ Himself is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end of all the law of God. He is the law giver and the very one who fulfilled every demand of the law for His people. (Isaiah 42: 21; Matthew 5: 17; Romans 10: 4; Galatians 3: 13)

The Lord Jesus Christ is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end of all creation. He is the one that created all things by the word of His power and sustains all things. (Colossians 1: 16) He is the one that will end this world and create a new heaven and earth wherein dwells righteousness. (John 1: 1-3; 2 Peter 3: 10-13)

The Lord Jesus Christ is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and ending of all our salvation. (Colossians 3: 11) It starts with Him from eternity past (Revelation 13: 8) and is carried out to its full completion in eternal glory. (Romans 8: 29-30; Philippians 1: 6)

What a glorious Lord we serve.

He is the Lord God Almighty who was, who is and who is to come; there is no other. (Revelation 4: 8; Revelation 4: 11-17; Isaiah 45: 5-7)

Our Lord Jesus Christ never changes in His character, purpose and glory. (Malachi 3: 6; Hebrews 13: 8)

He is the only Just God and Saviour. (Isaiah 45: 21-22; Romans 3: 24-26)

He is the very Saviour and Redeemer that we urgently need and must have and the only one the God has provided for us. (Genesis 22: 14; Acts 4: 12; Philippians 4: 19)

CONCERNING SPIRITUAL GIFTS

”Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.” | 1 Corinthians 12: 1-11

Those who are chosen by God’s grace, redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ and quickened and made alive by the Holy Spirit have no reason to boast of any personal achievement.

The apostle Paul uses this powerful phrase, “no man” two times in one verse to exclude any from exalting the deeds of the flesh. We were ignorant Gentiles, carried away unto dumb and dead idols, until the grace of God set us free in Jesus Christ our Lord. (Ephesians 2: 11-13)

Consider these three statements:

All that every believer knows; God, in His mercy taught us! The gospel of God’s grace and glory is not something that the natural and carnal mind reasons out. The gospel must be revealed by the Holy Spirit. Salvation is not by education, but rather by revelation. The world by wisdom does not know God. (1 Corinthians 1: 21) God, the Holy Spirit must take the things concerning Jesus Christ and shew them unto us, or we will never understand the true gospel. “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit” (1 Corinthians 2: 9-10)

All that every believer has; God, in His love gave us! There is not a single spiritual blessing that the believer enjoys that has not been freely given to us. (1 Corinthians 1: 30) We are justified freely by His grace. (Romans 3: 24) God has loved His people freely in Christ Jesus before the foundation of the world. (Hosea 14: 4) Although all the spiritual blessings are freely given to us, they came at a great price to our Lord. He fully paid our sin debt with a great price, His own blood. (Acts 20: 28) “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8: 32)

All that we are; God, in His grace made us! By nature we are born in sin and shapen in iniquity. (Psalm 51: 5) By His grace we have been made trophies of His love and mercy. (Ephesians 2: 4-8) Every believer can truly say with the apostle Paul, “by the grace of God I am what I am” (1 Corinthians 15: 10) We are saved from our sin by His grace. (Romans 4: 16) We are redeemed from the curse of the Law through Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3: 13)

Therefore every believer can rightly boast of what God has done for us through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Salvation is all of God’s grace, all in Christ Jesus and all for His glory.

We say with the apostle, “God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Galatians 6: 14)
