The Believer’s Position

“Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.” | Ephesians 2: 5-7

The believer is perfect in Christ; but in himself he is a poor, feeble creature, ever liable to fall.

Oh, the unspeakable blessedness of having One who can manage all his affairs for him at the right hand of the Majesty in the heavens;

One who upholds him always by His right hand;

One who will never let him go;

One who is “the same yesterday, today, and forever;”

One who will bear him through all the difficulties and dangers which surround him and finally present him faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.

Blessed forever be the grace that has made such provision for all our need in the blood of a spotless victim and the intercession of a Divine High Priest!

As A Sinner, I Rest Myself In Him

“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” | Joshua 1: 9

The mere knowledge of facts about the Bible, and even about the person and work of Christ, will not save us unless that knowledge leads us to really and truly trust our souls in the blessed Redeemer’s hands.

Faith must act in this fashion: “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; that He came to save sinners, and therefore, as a sinner, I rest myself in Him. I know that His righteousness and blood justify the ungodly; therefore, I trust Him to be both my righteousness and redemption before God.”

It Shall Be Perfect

“Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.” | Deuteronomy 32: 18

The voice from the cross did not summon men to do, but to be satisfied with what was done, “It is finished.”

The sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ is the only perfect thing which has ever been presented to God on man’s behalf.

“It shall be perfect to be accepted, there shall be no blemish therein” (Leviticus 22: 21)

Perfect To Be Accepted

Don’t Cling To Shadows

”And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God. Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not; Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.” | Colossians 2: 15-23

The more we are in the presence of Him Whom our souls love, the less we can bear to be out of it.

Trusting God

”Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus.” | Hebrews 3: 1

Most of us don’t know God well enough to trust Him.

Are you persuaded that God has complete control in reference to the things, which excite our anxiety?

Are you persuaded that He will use this control in the best way as far as we are concerned?

If I am to cast my cares on Him, I must know Him to be my Father; I must know Him to be my Friend; I must know Him to be my Protector, my Shepherd, my Guide, my Righteousness, and my Salvation.

I must believe His testimony that He loves me for Christ’s sake.

He careth for you.

It’s a small thing for God to care for us.

He provides for the cattle on a thousand hills, all the wild beasts, an army of birds, fish and insects.

Your needs and mine are scarcely a crumb from God’s table.

If He says, “I will care for you,” then He WILL.

The Gospel In One Verse

”And whosoever offereth a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD to accomplish his vow, or a freewill offering in beeves or sheep, it shall be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no blemish therein.” | Leviticus 22: 21

The voice from the cross did not summon men to do, but to be satisfied with what was done, “It is finished.”

”When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities. And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.” (Matthew 14: 13-14)

Better Than Life

”And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” | Matthew 6: 13

As to the rule of life or conduct, the Bible does not say for me to live is the law, but for me to live is Christ.

”For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (Philippians 1: 21)

Thy People Shall Be Willing

”Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.” | Psalm 110: 3

God’s elect worship and serve Him with willing hearts.

We willingly believe, willingly worship, willingly give, and willingly do what we can for the glory of God.

It is God Who, by effectual grace, makes us willing; but we are willing servants of the Most High God!

Any worship, service, or gifts offered to God that is not done with a willing heart is an abomination.

The Things Of God

”But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” | Acts 1: 8

It is hard to say which is worst—the atheist who says, “There is no God” or the religionist who maintains that God cannot do as He pleases.

”To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.” (Acts 1: 3-4)

Since all men by nature have stony hearts, all the threatenings in the world will do no good; the stony heart of natural man must be pierced by THE POWER OF GOD in order to be tender!

”For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” (Acts 1: 5)

One with a tender heart desires to know the will of God, has a readiness for spiritual things, has a disposition to obey revealed truth, and has a desire to make the things of God his chief business.
