“He Hath Done All Things Well”

”And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.” | Mark 7: 37

Who can express fully the blessings of these words: “In Christ?”

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8: 1)

To be “in Christ” means to be chosen “in Him before the foundation of the world.”

“To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.” (Ephesians 1: 6)

To be “in Christ” means that there is now “no condemnation,” accepted “in the Beloved,” and “complete in Him.”

“And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:” (Colossians 2: 10)

It means that “as He is, so are we in this world.”

“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.” (1 John 4: 17)

It means everything to be “in Christ.”

There Is One Ransom

“Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.” | Job 33: 24

There is one ransom that delivers men from the pit of hell.

God found it or provided it in “giving His only begotten Son.”

The ransom is called “the righteousness of God.”

“Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” (Isaiah 45: 22)

It is the absolute and perfect obedience of the Lord Jesus Christ to God’s holy law; obeying its precepts and suffering its penalty.

“I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.” (Isaiah 61: 10)

It is upon that righteousness alone that we as believers must rest; and on that righteousness alone we must live, die, and appear before the righteous LORD God.

God’s Word Shall Lead You

”When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.” | Proverbs 6: 22

These are the words of a father and mother to their children concerning the written Word of God.

This parent, a believer in Christ, is persuaded of the ability of God’s Word, with His blessing to lead, keep, and talk. They would impress this upon their children.

God’s Word shall lead you.

It will LEAD you out of the way “which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” The way of works religion seems right, but man’s works being imperfect will always end in death.

The Word shall lead you to the way, the Lord Jesus Christ that is also the truth and the life, the only way to God.

It shall KEEP you when you sleep. The believer in Christ being reconciled through Him to God is able to lay down and sleep in peace. “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety” (Psalm 4: 8)

It will also TALK to you. God’s word speaks to us as we read and hear it. I don’t know how many times I have been told after a service something to this effect. “God answered my question in your message,” or “You dealt with something in your message that has troubled me.”

I brought a message recently from Proverbs, and could not help but think after the message, “I wish that all of our young families with children had heard this message.” It seemed to me such a shame that they missed it.

Every service that a person misses he cheats himself of necessary food.

He misses that opportunity of hearing God speak to him from that passage.

Blind Eyes Opened

”And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.” | Luke 18: 9-14

One of the many promises concerning God’s servant is that He would open the eyes of the blind.

In the Lord’s parable of the Pharisee and the Publican who both went into the temple to pray we have an excellent example of what this means.

The Pharisee’s eyes had not been opened and thus he prayed: “I thank thee that I am not as other men.”

A person whose eyes have not been opened is blind to his sinfulness, that his righteousness is in God’s sight like filthy rags and as Solomon said “the plague of his own heart.”

The publican’s eyes had been opened and thus he prayed: “God be merciful to me a sinner.”

The word translated “merciful” shows that his eyes had been opened to see his sinfulness, and his need of an atonement to reconcile him to God.

The one atonement that reconciles sinners to God is the bloody sacrifice of the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ the righteous.

Has He opened your eyes to see your need and to sue for mercy?

Then you are part of the family of God which shall forever praise Him for the redeeming, justifying blood of the Son of God.

When We See the Lord

“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;” | Hebrews 1: 1-3

A sight of Christ by faith brings peace to the conscience.

There is ever a war within, between the flesh and the Spirit, grace and nature, the old man and the new: the motions of sin in our members are ever warring against the law of holiness in our minds: wicked nature is like the troubled sea, which cannot rest; it is continually casting up mire and dirt: but the winds and seas of corrupt nature obey Christ.

He says, Peace, be still, and there is a great calm in the soul; for Christ is our Peace, he hath made our peace with God by his blood; he makes and keeps peace in our souls by his presence; our stubborn lusts will fight and reign if Christ be absent from our hearts; therefore, we cannot but be glad when we see the Lord.
