God Does Not See Iniquity In His People

”He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel” | Numbers 23: 21

Every son of Adam is nothing but sin.

If we are honest, all we see in ourselves is sin.

Then why does God, who sees everything exactly as it is, say that He doesn’t see iniquity in His people? Because He took the sin of His people away in Christ.

Christ was made sin for His people in such reality that there is no sin left in them – Christ took it all away.

The sacrifice of Christ for the sin of His people put their sin away so completely, in such current reality, that there is no iniquity left in them.

The Father does not behold iniquity in His people because there is no sin to see – Christ has taken it all away and removed it by the blood of His sacrifice.

He Never Changes

“HE NEVER CHANGES” | Hebrews 13: 8

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

I am so thankful that as I grow older and things change, inside and out, that there is One who never changes.

  1. His love never changes with time, for He loved me with an everlasting love that knows no change.
  2. His power never changes. He is just as able to keep me from falling today as when I first began.
  3. His Word never changes: “God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? Or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?” (Numbers 23: 19) Has He not magnified His Word above His Name?
  4. His election of me shall never change. He will never cast off those whom He has chosen, for they will never do anything that He did not know about and has not already taken care of.
  5. The power of His blood shall never change. It still cleanses from all sin. No matter how deep the stain has gone, His blood washes it away.
  6. His Sacrifice will never change, it will never lose its effectiveness because it is always fresh in the midst of the Throne of God: “And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain…” (Revelation 5: 6)

We have a living sacrifice standing in the midst of the Throne of God.

When we rise out of our beds in the morning and go through our changes, just remember that there is One who remains the same yesterday, today and forever: The Rock Christ Jesus.

Love’s Persuasion

”For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:” | 2 Corinthians 5: 14

All of mankind is driven by either of two undeniable inward powers or passions.

We are born into this world with a love for self, and a love for the things of the world, a love for every thing that will satisfy our fleshly appetite. Those who are born from above have a love for Christ and the things that are not of this world. The child of God has both, yet the latter one has preeminence and dominion and will ultimately prevail in the course of time and events. This insatiable desire and appetite directs the path of one’s life.

The scriptures term this “constraining love”. This love is twofold in respect to God’s love for his people and because of his love for them we love him with the love that he has given us. We have often heard “love” defined as “commitment”, “dedication”, “devotion” , “faithfulness”, and etc. These are not what love is, these are the evidence of existing love. Where these abide there is love. Where these do not exist there is no love. All men have love, but all men do not love Christ.

The object is non-existent in the hearts of those that know not Christ, and the evidence is clearly revealed. The Word of God declares that “If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him,” (1 John 2: 15) and that “if any man love God, the same is known of him.“ (1 Corinthians 8:3) A profession of love for Christ without commitment, devotion, dedication and faithfulness to him and his work is like a dead body with only a name tag on it’s toe.

The constraining love of Christ does exactly that… it constrains us… it moves us… it persuades us… it compels us to come to Christ, loving him, worshipping him, desiring the things of God. My prayer is:

“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” (Ephesians 3: 17-19)

Enable Me to Pray

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” | Ephesians 2: 8-10

Lord, enable me to pray for communion with my great Physician – instead of physical health.

Enable me to pray for the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of my God – instead of the riches of this world.

Enable me to pray for peace and rest in my soul found in Christ my Sabbath – instead of peace and rest in this body of death.

Getting What I Deserve

”And he (Moses) said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. And he (The Lord) said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.” | Exodus 33: 18,19

Mercy is, “not getting what we truly do deserve”.

Grace is, “getting what we truly don’t deserve”.

God showed mercy to us when He gave Christ what we deserved.

And God showed grace to us when He gave us what Christ deserved.

Christ received our sin, and we received His reward.

Christ received our rejection, and we received His acceptance.

Christ received our death, and we received His life.

If God ever gives us the eyes of faith to see that, He will have shown us His glory!

Who is Your God?

”His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.” | Revelation 19: 12

Concerning the character of God, what gross mistakes men make!

I believe it is a mistake about the person of God Himself which is at the root and foundation of all the mistakes in theology. My conviction is that the free-will theology of today makes God to be less than He is. The professors of that system have come to receive its doctrines because they have no clear understanding of the omnipotence, the immutability, or the sovereignty of God.

God has an absolute RIGHT to do what He will, with whom He will, when He will. He has the POWER also to accomplish His will and the RANSOM which enables Him to be true to His character in the carrying out of that will. When Almighty God comes to the soul of a man in grace, none can stay His hand. The enemy’s power is broken and the sinner is made willing. Satan cannot stay the conquering hand of Jehovah and the sinner wants to be conquered.

When one truly sees the holiness, mercy, righteousness, grace, justice, and love of God in Christ, rising like a mighty sun, it cannot but put an end to the darkness of will-worship and modern fundamentalism.

What will your God do?

How will your God do what He does?

Tell me who He is!

If your God is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient and dwells in the heavens, He will do what He pleases. If He is any less than this, then He must wait to see what you will do. But the subdued king in Daniel 4: 35 declared, “He doeth according to His will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay His hand or say unto Him, what doest thou?”

Being Justified Freely

“But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.” | Psalm 63: 11

What does it mean to be justified?

I am sure that there have been many definitions given and I by no means can fully expound all that is involved in sinners being justified before God. However, I am sure that it means to be eternally pardoned from all sin by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 1: 18) It means to be acquitted and vindicated of all charges before the holy justice of God. (Jude 24) It means to be made and regarded righteous in God’s sight. (Colossians 1: 21-22)

How are sinners justified?

By God as the source, “It is God that justifieth.” (Romans 8: 33)

By grace as the spring and fountain, “Justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 3: 24)

By Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and blood atonement as the ground, “Being now justified by his blood we shall be saved from wrath through him.” (Romans 5: 9)

By His resurrection as the proof and evidence, “Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.” (Romans 4: 25)

By faith as the means to receive this salvation in Christ, “Being justified by faith, we have peace with God.” (Romans 5: 1)

The Simplicity of Christ, A Resting Place

”Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.” | Hebrews 10: 7

There is, in the simplicity of Christ, a resting place for the weary soul, a place of calm in the tempest.

In the press of life we can lay our burdens at the feet of Him who rules all things. In the grievous experience of our own failures, we can find comfort in Him Who cannot fail.

But I find in the simplicity of Christ another area of rest which I so greatly cherish.

Often, I struggle to understand the things of God. In particular, I feel this struggle when I engage with those who deny some aspect of the gospel.

Often I have read or heard of some theory of this or that doctrine and have immediately recognized it as false. But when I engage to refute it, I am overwhelmed with the complexity which the enemy inserts into the debate. It seems there are always more questions than I can answer. I get confused. It is then that I find such comfort and rest in the simplicity of Christ.

I may not know WHAT all the answers are, but I know WHERE they are; and I rest in the knowledge that God will reveal what I need to know when I need to know it, and the knowledge He reveals will always be found with in that category of “the simplicity of Christ.”

Therefore, I can walk happily in the light I have and likewise leave others to walk in the light they have.

I can cease from fretting over how well I am doing in the battle knowing that “the battle is the Lord’s,” and not mine.

Restraining Grace

”A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven” | John 3: 27

The only thing that makes a difference between the breaking out of one man’s sin over another is the restraining grace of God.

You know that if the Lord did not restrain you, there would be no limit to the depths of sin you could fall.

You fear being left to yourself and plead for the Lord to keep you.

You know that you have nothing except that which was given to you from heaven.

You cannot find any reason to be puffed up against another.

The more you grow in His grace and the knowledge of Christ, the less confidence you have in the flesh.

As it is written, he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 1: 30-31)

Knowing Brethren Your Election Of God

”Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God. For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.” | 1 Thessalonians 1: 3-5

Your election is known by your calling!

“You hath He quickened who were dead.” Have you been quickened, made alive to the things of God in Christ?

Do you have an interest in the Gospel of God’s grace and mercy to sinners? “The Holy Spirit will convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.”

Have you been convinced of your sin or unbelief?

Have you been convinced that you have no righteousness and need Christ’s righteousness?

Have you been convinced that there is no judgment only to those in Christ?

If God has been pleased to do these things for you and in you, then you are elected!

“Our Gospel came to you not in word only but in power.” Is the Gospel of Jesus Christ only facts and history to you, or has that Gospel entered your heart and brought you to seek a saving interest in Christ?

“It is given unto you not only to believe on Him but to suffer for His sake.” Do you believe on Him? Do you really believe that Jesus Christ is your wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption and that He, of God, is made unto you all you need?

“We love Him because He first loved us.” Do you love Christ the Lord? “No man can call Jesus Lord but by the Holy Spirit.” Is Christ your Lord? Have you truly bowed to Him in your heart of hearts?

“By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Do you really love the brethren? There is no problem here.

If we are God’s elect, there are evidences enough, so “give diligence to make your calling sure!”
