Blessed Is He That Considereth The Poor

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Blessed [is] he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; [and] he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness. I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee. Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish? And if he come to see [me], he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; [when] he goeth abroad, he telleth [it]. All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt. An evil disease, [say they], cleaveth fast unto him: and [now] that he lieth he shall rise up no more. Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up [his] heel against me. But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them. By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever. Blessed [be] the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen. | Psalm 41

Jesus Christ Himself

“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:” | Colossians 2: 9,10

My friends, how vain and futile are any efforts on our part either to add unto or to improve upon the glorious righteousness of our blessed Lord Jesus.

Then what must I do to be saved?

‘BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!’

Ours is to ‘BELIEVE.’

His is to ‘DO.’

Who Did God Appoint To Salvation?

“For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,” | 1 Thessalonians 5: 9

Here are five truths concerning the salvation that is IN and OF our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

#1 Jesus Christ came into this world to save SINNERS. (Matthew 1: 21)

#2 Jesus Christ came into this world to save the CHIEF sinners. (1 Timothy 1: 15)

#3 Jesus Christ ONLY saves sinners. (Luke 5: 32)

#4 Jesus Christ only saves sinners FREELY. (Isaiah 55: 1, Romans 3: 24, Revelation 22: 17)

#5 Jesus Christ only saves sinners FULLY/COMPLETELY. (John 19: 30, Colossians 2: 10)

Our Lord came on purpose, to save a particular people, and He accomplished what He came to do!

If you are one of those particular people, and if He accomplished salvation for you, then He will notify you of it through the preaching of His Word.

In His notification, He will convince you of the fact that you are a sinner; the worst sinner you’ve ever known! That is the very reason why He had to die. It was to save you from your sins. His death was God the Father’s free gift to you. And in His free gift, you are completely redeemed!

It was all appointed by the Father, and obtained by the Son.

To Him be glory forever!

God Resisteth the Proud, and Giveth Grace to the Humble

“Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all [of you] be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle [you]. To him [be] glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand. The [church that is] at Babylon, elected together with [you], saluteth you; and [so doth] Marcus my son. Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace [be] with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.” | 1 Peter 5: 5-14

The Difference in No Faith, Weak Faith, and Strong faith.

“And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.” | Luke 17: 5

When a person has no faith at all, he looks to his own flesh for all of his confidence before God. He believes that God will be satisfied with him by what he sees in himself – his actions, his words, and his thoughts.

When a person has weak faith, he looks to himself for a little bit of confidence before God. He knows that he will never be able to satisfy God outside of the blood of Christ, but something in him still thinks that he must produce good actions, good words, and good thoughts along with Christ’s blood before God will accept him.

When a person is strong in faith, he does not look to himself at all. He knows that he can have absolutely no confidence in his flesh. When it comes to God accepting him, all of his hope is in Christ’s actions, Christ’s words, and Christ’s thoughts. He firmly believes that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief!” And “He is made unto (me) wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.”

Christ is all I need!

In summary…

  • No faith – has all confidence in the flesh.
  • Weak faith – has a little confidence in the flesh.
  • Strong faith – has NO confidence in the flesh at all!

What It Is To Love Christ

“For I know that in me (that is in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.” | Romans 7: 18

I am so thankful that the Spirit moved the apostle Paul to pen this verse of Scripture. It is one that truly shows me what I am by nature… totally depraved! It drives me to examine myself in light of God’s word and moves me to be thankful for the fact that I can observe something of the struggle that the Scripture declares to be found in every regenerate. And it makes God’s promise to be a great comfort to me… Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

Whoever Shall Call On His Name

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” | Romans 10: 13

Regeneration makes no alteration on the flesh, but the Spirit.

There is nothing in the flesh made holy.

And there is nothing in the Spirit left unholy.

God Revealed Himself to Job

“Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof. In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men, Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake. Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up: It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image [was] before mine eyes, [there was] silence, and I heard a voice, [saying], Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker? Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly: How much less [in] them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation [is] in the dust, [which] are crushed before the moth? They are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding [it]. Doth not their excellency [which is] in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.” | Job 4: 12-21

Salvation By Grace Alone

“But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.” | Acts 15: 11

When that first Bible Conference at Jerusalem was assembled and the vital question about salvation was discussed, Peter stood up and declared that salvation is by the grace of God alone, not by the deeds of the law. (Galatians 2: 21; 1 Peter 5: 10) There are at least four things we know the scriptures plainly declare about the grace of God.

1). Grace is eternal. Grace was planned and purposed in Christ before it was imparted and applied to our heart. (2 Timothy 1: 9; Hebrews 13: 20; Revelation 13: 8)

2). Grace is free. No man ever purchased the grace of God. He bought us with His own blood and justified us with His grace alone. (Acts 20: 28; 1 Peter 1: 18; Romans 3: 24)

3). Grace is sovereign. God gives grace to whom He pleases. Grace is the free and sovereign favor of God freely given to undeserving, ill-deserving and hell-deserving sinners. (Romans 5: 19-21; Romans 9: 12-16)

4). Grace is always because of and in Christ. We only believe through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. (John 1: 16-17; Acts 18: 27; Ephesians 1: 3-7; 2 Corinthians 8: 9)

Thank God for His grace. Every believer can say with Paul, “I am what I am by His grace.”

Take Your Burden to the Lord

I know my sins, but I rejoice in His grace.

I know my weakness, but I rest in His strength.

I know my emptiness, but I am complete in Him.

“O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,” all because we do not cast our sins, our souls on Christ and LEAVE THEM THERE!
